I tried for a while to fix it but had no look. I have created a user called Shreyans on Siddharth's computer and as you suggested, shared the Work folder with myself (Shreyans). Note that the shares wont go away immediately however. And I want this on the server comp so it's easily accessible from my main comp or my laptop.

Also why do you think those network places are popping up? Network not seeing each other in "my network places", but can see each other if each IP address is typed in to explorer bar. How do I disable firesharing over windows firewall? Actually probably not but regardless how is this happening . The router's assigned DHCP addresses should be as if each machine is on the same subnet.. Can you tell me what brand & Model of the router you are using ?
