You know Seagate bought out Maxtor so there may not be updates at all. it comes with a really lite version of retrospect for backups....... by R. If you need to install the software on an XP machine you can download it from the maxtor / seagate support site.HOWEVER...The maxtor software itself does not work in Vista. if i happen to forget/lose the cable, i can easily snag one from something else.
